sea gulls & snuggles: an Annapolis engagement

I get it now. There’s a reason why everyone loves Annapolis. And, having grown up on the sea, I understand why people flock to harbor towns during the summer. But for the same reason, I also know why these charming little towns are such hidden gems in the winter: they are peaceful — deserted, except for the sea gulls — and they are breathtaking.

Annapolis is no different. It sparkles under the late afternoon winter sun. The water near the pier is a deep green-blue beneath the frosty glass that covers it. Boats are moored amidst cracking ice, and people say hello to each other from behind their scarves.

The town just begs to be photographed.

Turns out, a quiet harbor in the dead of winter can feel quite cozy and warm when you add a happily engaged couple and a darling little girl to the equation. Laura & Foster wanted something a little different than your typical love session: since their vows in early May will bring together not just two, but three people as a family, it was important to them that Carolina be present in the images showcasing their love. And thank goodness for that, because on the off chance their love wasn’t enough to keep us toasty, her smile sure did the trick. What an adorable family-to-be; I can’t wait to photograph their union in May (I hear Carolina may be wearing a princess dress!). Enjoy! xo
