gratitude

Pause. Forget, for a moment, that this is the time of year during which there are all sorts of built-in reminders to reflect on your good fortune. Pretend, for the afternoon, that your refrigerator is not full of Thanksgiving leftovers, your calendar is not full of festive celebrations, and your shopping list is not full of holiday gifts.

Then, whittle it down. Focus on the bounty that exists in your life even without the clamor of this (admittedly pleasing) extravagance. Appreciate the small things; find magic in the ordinary.

I found myself considering the idea of gratitude as I pulled together the images for this blog post. I love the sense of wonder that seeps from these little girls. Esme and Mila find joy in the grass and the trees and the leaves and the sky. They run and jump and skip and play and delight in every little moment. With them, every second is extraordinary.

So, pause. Lend a moment or two for gratitude. For all the big blessings, but more importantly, for all the little ones. xo
